2020-21 Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration

Please complete one of the following forms and our office staff will email a registration packet to you:

Kindergarten is available for students who turn 5 years old on or before September 1st.

Please note per School Board policy: Transitional Kindergarten is available for students whose birthday is between September 2 to December 2.

Only these birthdays will be accepted for this program.

Registration Packets must be picked up by parent/guardian at your home school.

Listed below are registration requirements:

State Education Code requirements (prior to entry into school):

1. Birth Certificate: Children must be five years old on or before September 1, 2020 to be eligible for Kindergarten (Birthdays between September 2nd and December 2nd are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten)

2. Immunization Records: State law requires that an immunization document be completed. NOTE: Children must be fully immunized even if they are not yet five years old in order to start in August 2020

3. Health Physical Examination: All students enrolling are also required to have a "Report Of Health Check Up For School Entry" form prior to the start of school. If your child has a physical prior to February 2020 a second physical will be necessary prior to entry into the 1st grade. If you are unable to obtain a health check-up prior to registration, written proof of an appointment from a physician is required. Your packet will not be considered complete without proof of an appointment

4. Dental Health Assessment: California law, Education Code Section 4945.8, now requires that your child have an oral assessment (dental check-up) by their first day of class in school. Dental assessments completed up to 12 months before your child enters school also meet this requirement. If you are unable to obtain a dental check-up prior to registration, written proof of an appointment from a dentist is required. Your packet will be not be considered complete without proof of an appointment

5. Proof of Residency: All students enrolling in San Marcos schools are required to present two documents as proof of residency within the specified attendance area of the San Marcos Unified School District. If you reside with someone and utilities are not in your name, then a notarized Affidavit of Residence by a Notary Public is required along with two appropriate documents

NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT

Welcome to Joli Anne Elementary School! All new student enrollments will be processed electronically for the 2020-21 school year. 

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten registration for the 2021/22 school year will open on February 1, 2021.

STEP 1: NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT PACKET

Request a New Student Enrollment Packet* by completing one of the following Google forms:

Upon verifying your home address is within our boundaries, you will receive an email from our enrollment clerk containing the enrollment packet and instructions. Complete the enrollment packet and review the Annual Parent Notifications.

STEP 2: REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Gather the following documents which are required for new student enrollment:

  • Proof of Age
  • Proof of Immunizations
  • Proof of Physical Health Exam
  • Proof of Dental Health Exam
  • Proof of Residency - Two (2) documents to verify your residency
  • Transcript, withdrawal grades, or most recent report card
  • If applicable, most current IEP or 504 Plan 
  • If applicable, check-out form from previous school

STEP 3: SITE-SPECIFIC FORMS

Listed below are site-specific forms* necessary to finalize your student's enrollment. Completed site-specific forms must be emailed to the enrollment clerk, along with your child's enrollment packet and all required documents listed above.

STEP 4: SCAN AND EMAIL PACKET AND DOCUMENTS TO ENROLLMENT CLERK

Scan and email your completed enrollment packet, all required documents, and any site-specific forms to: [email protected]. Your child's enrollment will be processed within 48 hours, Monday through Friday.

Please note we are unable to process your child's enrollment until ALL required documents are received.

CURRENT STUDENTS (RESIDENCY VERIFICATION)

Residency verification is required for all current students moving on to the next grade level. This process usually begins a few months prior to the beginning of the new school year.
